Rfkannen Before game nowadays people were talking about their first exposure to dnd, and I remembered that my beginning exposure was in 2006 when I was 9, on the playground a child had brought a copy of dnd ( i do n’t recall which edition this was, but the thief acrobat was core one think ) and a pair of kids rolled up characters, I remember I rolled actually well ( stats in ordering ), and the diabetes mellitus suggested with my stats I should play a thief acrobat.
I got truly exited about that thief acrobat, but we never actually played a game with the characters we rolled. And it would be 10 years belated that I actually played dnd for the first time.
I was thinking that it would be fun to honor my first character by actually playing a thief acrobat, but their is n’t an official thief acrobat in 5e, and I do n’t know anything about what thief acrobats actually were, any idea how to play one ?

OldTrees1 Dex based Rogue ( Thief ) with Athletics and Acrobatics proficiency. thief ‘s 3rd flat ability Second-Story Work is of finical matter to. The Mobile feat will let you move more freely. The Athlete feat would allow you to stand up cursorily as mentioned. If you can find Slippers of Spider Climbing they would fit very well. A Tabaxi might be a good race. They are quick and can climb.

I think they had to be homo if I remember right, I besides think that the weapon was a quarterstaff ( that they could pole-vault with ), but I know thats not in truth potential with rogues in 5e.
I think the backround was pretty typical gentlemen thief farce. Thrill seeker, they did it for the gamble type of bargain .

Sorinth In 5e you can make a human body in many unlike ways.
Thief-Acrobat is generic enough of a concept that you can easily cover it with the right Background. So it actually comes down to how you want the character to behave. So ask yourself 3 questions, how charming do you want your abilities to be, how do you imagine your function in battle, how do you imagine your role outside of combat. once you have that down it will be easier to find the right class/features .
Lavaeolus then, the Thief Acrobat is basically like to a regular thief when starting out, but finally gives up improving most of their basic thief skills to focus on their acrobatics : pole-vaulting, long-distance rise in general, tumbling, tightrope-walking. People have already covered some options, but I ‘ll do a quick dislocation of some tools I think we could use to replicate this.
The Thief Rogue was the first thing to pop in my capitulum, and besides is something most people have already mentioned. Attempting to polevault across things, walking across tightropes — those could easily be Dexterity ( Acrobatics ) checks, though early drift could be tied to Strength ( Athletics ). Rogues are skill specialists, so they ‘ll be able to boost both their Athletics and Acrobatics checks, and at higher levels finally guarantee a decent roll. Starting from flat 2, you can besides use your bonus action to Dash, netting you extra apparent motion.
Why thief in particular ? I do n’t think you need to be excessively tied to this subclass if something else suits your visualize, as the Rogue gives you a good-enough base if a little vanilla. Mark Hall I ‘ve played with it a few times, wanting to make a subclass of it, but it ‘s hard to do with the thief taking up space. I wanted to make it kind of a monk-lite subclass, partially because old-school Thief-Acrobats had a gamble to completely avoid a blow, and 2e ‘s tumbling proficiency made you a better unarmed combatant .
