A Carpet of Flying, or equitable flying carpet, is, as the name suggests, a carpet that has been enchanted to fly. Vox Machina ‘s original carpet of flying was taken from Lady Allura ‘s home, the Ivory Tower, after the tower was assaulted by a demonic entity. [ 2 ] That original rug finally lost its captivation and was rendered a normal, non-magical rug. Vox Machina belated found a new rug of flying within Thordak ‘s lair. [ 3 ]
Background
Pre-stream
Vox Machina found out the first carpet could fly during the collapse of the Ivory Tower. The party in the first place used it as a chute, but then the carpet saved them by sweeping underneath them and flying them down to safety. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] Afterwards, they chose to keep it and not tell Allura that they were the ones who took it. Allura once hinted that she knew it was them, but did not press the topic as she seemed to have decided they could keep it. [ 6 ]
Tiberius, Keyleth, and Vax’ildan, along with Kashaw Vesh and Thorbir Falbek from the Slayer ‘s Take club, attempted to cross a river of acerb using the carpet. They unintentionally triggered a charming rune trap that caused the carpet ‘s flying ability to be temporarily disabled, plunging them all into acid. Vax attempted to save the carpet by holding it over his head while wading through the rest of the manner, but it had already been coated in acerb. Tiberius then attempted to repair it using his Mending Wheel. While he was able to repair the carpet physically, it lost its flight enchantment and became nothing but a normal rug. [ 7 ] Vex’ahlia was ferocious when she found out about the personnel casualty.
several months late, while looting through Thordak ‘s gem hoard, Vex’ahlia discovered a moment, larger carpet of flying, [ 8 ] which she has kept always since. It was 6 by 9 feet [ 9 ] and made out of fine, deeply bleached united states navy blue sky silk with a light tan pattern across it. [ 10 ]
Abilities
While the carpet grants flying to all who can fit on it, there are some limits to what it could do. [ 11 ] The first gear carpet was incapable of lifting Grog [ 12 ] or bangle due to their weight. It could lone hold the weight unit of about four or five average-sized party members at once. The second carpet was able of speeds of up to thirty feet, carrying up to 800 pounds. [ 13 ] In summation to the flying ability, Allura ‘s carpet had the follow :

- When Vox Machina slew a cloaker while in the Underdark,[14] Percy skinned the creature and wanted to use its hide to camouflage the carpet by making the bottom of the carpet invisible. However, it is unclear whether he actually ever did.[15]
